Every year, the Picnic Day Board of Directors selects a theme based on what they want to highlight in that particular year. This year, the Picnic Day Board wants to celebrate the multifaceted community of UC Davis and the impact it has had on countless individuals. We feel that “Heart of Our Community” reflects the vibrancy and character of Davis and its surrounding areas.
This family friendly event is free for all to come and experience the richness of diversity and achievement at UC Davis and the surrounding community in the areas of research, teaching, service and campus life. More than 200 events will take place throughout campus and will include exhibits, shows, competitions, demonstrations, entertainment, animal and athletic events, Student Organization Fair, Multicultural Children’s Fair, Parade and much more.
All events and parking are free! Picnic Day is one of UC Davis’ most revered traditions and serves as the university’s annual Open House for prospective and current students, families, alumni, staff, faculty, and the greater Davis and regional communities.
Popular Traditional Events:
The Battle of the Marching Bands
Doxie Derby Race
Chemistry Magic Show
Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Demonstration
We look forward to celebrating this community with you in our 101st Picnic Day on Saturday, April 18th!
